We should use "AMD" instead of "ATI" .

Bug #755260 reported by Fumihito YOSHIDA

jockey (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

In Jockey's user interfaces(jockey-gtk/kde), we use vendor-name "ATI" (for FGLRX),
But that is obsolete/enthusiast's term.

Now, Many users know that vendor as "AMD".
"ATI" is forgotten by the many users... (Woe is me.).

So, It's very regretful that, we should use "AMD"(or "AMD(ATI)") instead of "ATI" .

- AMD / ATI acquisition at 2006, that 5 years-old.

- AMD, Inc. has dissolved the ATI brand for GPU product name. Any {shop, vendor catalogue, spec sheets} use "AMD" brand.

- The new brand of AMD GPUs does not use any "ATi" words (e.g.: "AMD Fusion" )

ATI Technologies Inc, was a major designer and supplier of graphics processing units and motherboard chipsets. In 2006, the company was acquired by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and was renamed to the AMD Graphics Products group. Despite the acquisition, the ATI brand was retained for graphics cards until August 30, 2010. AMD retired the "ATI" name and instead brand its graphics chipsets as "AMD" beginning in late 2010. So, the old chips and driver architecture is still being named as "ATI"

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx says "AMD" everywhere, I think we should update this for Oneiric (too late for Natty).

The short name already is 'ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver', but the long descriptions say "ATI".

This bug was fixed in the package jockey - 0.9.3-0ubuntu1

jockey (0.9.3-0ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * New upstream release. Changes since our last trunk merge:
    - more Python 3 compatible imports
    - ui.py: Move to AppIndicator3 for GTK 3 compatibility
    - merge translations, update German fuzzy strings
    - fglrx example handler: Rename ATI → AMD (LP: #755260)
  * debian/control: Update appindicator GIR dependency.
  * Cherrypick changes from trunk:
    - gtk/jockey-gtk.desktop.in: Use correct categories to show up on the new
gnome-control-center. Thanks Rodrigo Moya! (LP: #787694)
    - Add NoDisplay=true to autostart .desktop file and have jockey-gtk show up
      in Unity. Thanks Mike Terry.
