Jockey found the nvidia177 drivers but when i tried to activate it would just try and download then say activated but the icon wouldnt turn green or actually download or activate. To resolve this i had to use synaptic and find the nvidia-glx driver install then go back to jockey and activate. once restarted it was activated. I'm assuming the download portion of the program is broken in some way.

I also tried killing the cupsd, because another bug report implied it might help. The above was collected while cupsd was off.

When I run jockey-gtk from the command line, eventually, there is some sort of timeout error. I lose that output running the above. I can collect it again if you think it will be helpful.

I guess it is a problem with the package download, since running sudo apt-get -d install nvidia-glx-177 allowed jockey to work. Here is the output of that:

I'm also attaching the debug output of jockey-backend again, for what its worth. Though, there doesn't look like anything interesting in either of those outputs.

well, I tried removing the driver, and removing all downloaded packages, but the bug does not reoccur. So much for tracking it down.

There is indeed nothing in either log file which would explain this. Instead, the stderr output rather smells like a bug in D-Bus. Did you ever encounter this again?
