I encountered the same problem but could circumvent the issue with the following instructions (which I found in a similar bug report here):

As I understand, recent versions of Mac OS X produce this error message for applications without signature. Would it be hard to sign the JHV binaries for Mac?

Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for adding this link. As you correctly pointed out, this has been reported before and is a problem on Macs since OS X 10.8.

No, all that's needed is an Apple Developer account. We didn’t have one so far, but I purchased one recently so I can sign the Mac binaries in the future. This should solve the problem.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for the quick reply. However, on my system one error message got
replaced by another, see my latest bug report,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/jhelioviewer/+bug/1298857

The JOGL libraries appear to be the issue. Did you have this problem, too?

Thanks,
Jens
