Bug Description

Jdownloader simplifies downloading files from One-Click-Hosters like Rapidshare.com or Megaupload.com - not only for users with a premium account but also for users who don't pay. It offers downloading in multiple paralell streams, captcha recognition, automatical file extraction and much more. Additionally, many "link encryption" sites are supported - so you just paste the "encrypted" links and JD does the rest. JDownloader can import CCF, RSDF and the new DLC files.

Hi,

I wish to build a deb package of jdownloader but I have a very little experience in packaging a software for ubuntu. I can do it but with the help of the community guidance. I am watching several videos for packaging software. Also I am reading the packaging guide in ubuntu wikis.

I am using 9.10 now and if I use 9.10 to build a jdownloader deb (and host it in a separate ppa), will it work in lucid ?

Just for your information: We have setup a PPA [1] containing a launcher script. You need to build jdownloader from source, if you want to have it in Ubuntu. This will be a hard job and is probably not the best way to start packaging.
