2010-02-24 05:51:22 Matt Giuca description If you are enrolled in multiple offerings of the same subject, your specialhome is very confusing. (Especially for lecturers who have taught the same subject many times). It currently looks like this (e.g., for sample user 'lecturer'): Intermediate IVLE - Subject home <link to ivle-102/2010/2> - mywork <link to ivle-102/mywork> - any groups for 2010 semester 2 Intermediate IVLE - Subject home <link to ivle-102/2009/2> - mywork <link to ivle-102/mywork> - any groups for 2009 semester 2 Points of confusion are: - Multiple mywork links to the same physical directory - Multiple headings with the same name - No indication of the semester without looking at the link URLs - The fact that all semesters are displayed equally (no "archival" of old semesters) A proposed solution is to firstly keep everything the same if you are enrolled in a single offering for a given subject. If you are enrolled in multiple offerings of a given subject: - Have a single heading for that subject - Under that, display the mywork link - Under that, display all "current" offerings as sub-headings, with "Subject home" link. Display all non-current offerings in the same way, but hidden by default with the ability to expand. - Under each offering heading, show the group workspace links. Therefore, the new lecturer view is: Intermediate IVLE - mywork <link to ivle-102/mywork> 2010, semester 2 - Subject home <link to ivle-102/2010/2> - any groups for 2010 semester 2 + Previous offerings <expander link> 2009, semester 2 - Subject home <link to ivle-102/2009/2> - any groups for 2009 semester 2 I would also like to see all past semesters in specialhome archived. I imagine a future change (not part of this bug) where the home page is split into "current" offerings and "past" offerings. In light of the proposed changes (since we now keep all offerings grouped by subject), I would simply split the page into "current" subjects and "past" subjects, where a current subject is one that has at least one current offering. That way, a "current" subject is easily visible and the "current" offerings in that subject are also visible. The non-current offerings in a current subject are hidden by default, and the non-current subjects are also hidden by default. If you are enrolled in multiple offerings of the same subject, your specialhome is very confusing. (Especially for lecturers who have taught the same subject many times).
