Bug Description

On mine system, Gentoo GNU/Linux, Ircp-Tray works flawlessy (I can transfer files from the pc to a cellphone and from a cellphone to the pc) but the annoying warning "Service IrDA not started!" gets prompted each time I login into gnome.

I forgot to say that I'm using ircp-tray-0.7.4 , last stable version

Ircp Tra check the presence of /var/run/irattach.pid for detect if irattach is running. Perhaps the package irda-utils shipped by Gentoo does not create that file or is elsewhere.

You run irattach manually or through the init script?

Changed in ircp-tray:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Confirmed
magowiz (magowiz) wrote :

I run irattach through the /etc/init.d/irda init script and it starts fine (without errors), irattach is running ( I checked with ps) but /var/run/irattach.pid cannot be located on mine filesystem.

magowiz (magowiz) wrote :

I modified the irda initscript as reported here http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294757 to create /var/run/irattach.pid on start and remove it on stop, now the warning isn't shown anymore.

Daniele Napolitano (dnax88) wrote :

So, can I close this bug? Otherwise is better that Ircp Tray check the irattach process instead pid file?

Michal P (mppoka) wrote :

Hi,
I don't use irattach and irratach.pid doesn't exist ("ifconfig irda0 up" makes my usb dongle working). Maybe isn't necessary to check if irattach is running.
