Bug Description
As reported by Travis O., the StringTask won't in kernel.client doesn't allow unicode code strings. We need to fix this.

More generally, the entire IPython.kernel is not setup to allow unicode strings as arguments to methods like execute. We need to transition all of this to unicode.
