Bug Description

It installs into /usr/local/lib/python2.6/... & /usr/local/share/doc/... whereas the default paths for Fedora and RHEL simply /usr/lib/... and /usr/share...

Also, if you would be willing to make available a source rpm rather than a binary rpm, rebuilding and customization would be made much easier (to fix this bug, or to rename an installation to ipython2.6, for example).

Unfortunately distutils doesn't produce rpms out of the box, I don't use any RPM-based system anymore and don't really have the bandwith to produce good-quality packages.

I'm afraid I'll have to close this bug by simply not shipping rpms anymore: it's much better not to ship broken packages and let the distributors, or someone with rpm expertise, produce good quality packages.

I'm closing it by changing our release scripts to simply not generate rpms. Please do encourage the Fedora/RHEL maintainers to talk to us about contributing updated rpms, we'll be happy to host them (even from nightly builds).
