Bug Description

When using IPython and a call to import matplotlib.pyplot is made a calender widget appears on the screen.
Afther the calender window is closed Iphyton continues to run but with a slow keyboard (Keys pressed take a long time to appear on screen).
This is with the windows binary installation 0.9.1 and re-installation does not solve the problem.
The problem does not appear with the 0.8.4 version of the installer.

This is super odd. Have you taken this up with the matplotlib foiks? I recommend that. There are lots of underlying things related to matplotlib versions and backends that could be going on here.

Changed in ipython:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

I have not, because if I import matplotlib.pyplot in the python command line or using a previous version of IPython nothing 'bad' happens. Its only with the new version of IPython.
Actually my solution was simply to go back to IPython 0.8.4 and have had no problems since I only wanted to let some one know that I experienced that bug.

Uh? This is seriously weird. We need more info:

- matplotlib version?
- matplotlib backend (this is likely a critical point)?
- operating system?

using the --verbose-helpful command line options I get:

matplotlib version 0.98.5.2
backend TKAgg version 8.4
platform win32

I am using Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2 (version 2002)

No idea. I'll mention this on the mpl list to see if anyone has any
ideas. This is seriously bizarre.

Cheers,

Based on the response of the matplotlib devs, let's mark this as
"Incomplete" if it is not already.
