Bug Description

ipmctl 02.00.00.3673+ds-2 uploaded in Focal Fossa introduces a regression in that breaks show -memoryresources on ACPI PMTT v0.1 BIOS

With the new version of the package the following error occurs.
$ sudo ipmctl show -memoryresources
One or more DIMMs have invalid PCD data. A platform reboot is recommended to restore valid PCD data, then try again.
With the previous version of the package this command worked.

This is mentioned in upstream bug report which suggests this error may be a false positive and is linked to two fixes in testing branch:
https://github.com/intel/ipmctl/issues/123
https://github.com/intel/ipmctl/commit/a726e745dbdeb6112e24ccb40aab98e4d9a680ec

Thanks Martin for this bug report and for the link to the upstream bug. If I understand your latest comment there, the fixes in the testing branch do not solve the problem, am I right?

Could you let us know what is the latest Ubuntu version of the package that you found to be working?

Hi Paride. Last known good version of the package is 02.00.00.3474+really01.00.00.3469-1 which I have reverted to.

You are also correct about the testing branch, I have now compiled the existing upstream fix and tested it for myself. Sadly the current fix does not seem to solve the problem at least on the system I am testing on.

I registered the upstream project in LP so that I could link the upstream bug with it.

Thanks for checking, we will pull that in from Debian as soon as it arrives there.

I have tested the fix that is now in Focal (package version 02.00.00.3709+ds-1) and it resolves this bug, thank you.
