Bug Description

I am using latest LV2 version of the Invada plugins with Harrison Mixbus 2.0.5, every time I try to delete or remove one of the LV2 plugins from Mixbus strips they completely crash Mixbus closing it with a segfault, I already e-mailed Harrison about this and they said they will look into it since the plugins are open source, but I still wanted to report with you so maybe you could work with them and make these plugins a bit more "friendly" since they are a great set of plugins for the linux community.

I have tried using precompiled packages and self compiled ones and both render the same problem. These really doesn't happen in Ardour2 or Ardour3.

Thank you.

Just a note and update acyually:

I re-tested this issue and noticed that this bug also affects Ardour2, but not Ardour3, and it happens mostly when showing the GUI for the plugins, after that removing them from the strips will for sure crash Ardour2 or Mixbus.

Ben Loftis has contacted me and he is doing further testings, he will let me know what he thinks and I will post here with updated info.

Thanks

Hi Joe,

thanks for the bug report.
The plugins haven't been tested against the Harrison Mixbus so that is my first port of call.
Will advise.

Thanks for your response.

Just want to remind you that this bug also affects Ardour2 in the same way, and since Mixbus 2.0.5 is a commercial fork pulled from Ardour2 source it seems to have the same issue.

You think you could get in touch with Ardour and Mixbus devs and see if something can be done? Invada plugins are a great set of tools.

Thanks again!

Joe

I'll still report in the Ardour bug tracker so they are aware of this also.

Ok, just an update, after reporting in Ardour bug tracker I saw new changes in the source tree for the LV2 gui's today. I redownloaded Ardour2 and recompiled and all seems to be working well at the moment. No crashes in Ardour2 after showing the gui and removing the plugins from strips. Still I will confirm soon (after Ardour devs confirm me that this was the issue) and let you know if this bug is invalid or not.

Thanks.

Just got e-mail from Ben Loftis at Harrison Mixbus and he told me he made the update in the Ardour source, this is what he says:

"Hi Joe,

I made that checkin :)

Technically speaking, Invada should fix this crash bug. But since future plugin makers could potentially make the same mistake, we changed the Ardour code to be more forgiving. It _might_ be causing a small memory leak. But this is probably preferable to a crash."

So this bug is valid.
Thanks again.
