This bug isn't valid for Jaunty, the package can be installed correctly.

I ran into a similar problem. The package "kipi-plugins" is recommended for "kphotoalbum", but its no possible to install, since the "kipi-plugins" require more recent "libkdcraw" and "libkipi" as the kphotoalbum.

So when I try to install the recommended package "kipi-plugins" for "kphotoalbum" it tries to uninstall "kphotoalbum" :-)

Maybe is possible to build "kphotoalbum" with "libkdcraw7" and "libkipi6"?

Thanks, astifter

FYI, I have built the latest snapshot of kphotoalbum for Jaunty on my PPA at https://launchpad.net/~dominik-stadler/+archive/ppa which has the dependencies fixed for kipi-plugins to be installable and working in Jaunty.

You are using newer code through this, it has a first set of changes to be more compatible to KDE4, but it seems to be stable and allows to use all the kipi-plugins for now until this bug is fixed.

As far as I can tell kphotoalbum depends on libkipi0 and libikipi0 conflicts with libkipi6. Then since libkipi6 is part of the kubuntu-desktop task kphotoalbum is uninstallable on a Jaunty system.

This ended up blocking a dist-upgrade for a user who had kphotoalbum installed.

As far as I see only the newer snapshots of kphotoalbum allows to compile against KDE 4 libraries and thus allows to use the version of kipi and libkipi that is included in Jaunty now. So in order to fix this, a newer version of kphotoalbum will likely be needed, then the following dependencies in debian/control allow to compile the app successfully:

Build-Depends: cdbs, debhelper (>= 5), quilt, docbook-to-man, libxt-dev,
 libxext-dev, zlib1g-dev, libqt4-dev, kdelibs5-dev, libexiv2-dev (>= 0.16),
 libkdcraw7-dev, libkipi6-dev, cmake

Same problem here.
"sudo aptitude -R install kphotoalbum" helps with the libkdcraw3-problem, but not with libkipi0 vs libkipi6.

You can also try the latest from https://edge.launchpad.net/~alessandro-ghersi/+archive/ppa - seems to work better

Karmic has all the necessary packages in correct versions, maybe this can be closed now?

Is this really "Fix Released"? I'm still running Intrepid due to massive filesystem corruption bugs in Jaunty that were a blocker to upgrades. Now that those are solved, I still can't upgrade to Jaunty, because KPA is broken there.

I have added "Intrepid Backports" as separate project to this bug to record that you would like a backport of it, this is the way launchpad handles this.
