Bug Description

Every time I resume from standby or hibernation NetworkManager does not reconnect to my previously connected wireless network.

Network is protected with WPA2.

when this happens syslog logs several lines like this one:
"wlan0: RX deauthentication from [AP MAC ADDRESS] (reason=7)"

When this happens I still can see other networks but mine with NetworkManager and can connect to them. Mine is even not listed in the available networks list.

To get back functionality I have to remove the driver with modprobe -r iwl4965 and then load it again.

uname is: 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP
wpasupplicant: 0.6.0+0.5.8-0ubuntu2
NetworkManager: 0.6.6-0ubuntu5

This is a regression since with Hardy vanilla this bug did not exist. It has been introduced by some update after May 22.

it is definitely an Intel Linux Wireless (either iwl4965 driver or mac80211) fault.

I just manually updated the driver version from 1.2.25 (version shipped in latest 2.6.24-19 kernel) to version 1.2.26k from compat-wireless-2008-07-04. Now network manages to re-authenticate smoothly on resume from suspend and hibernate.

Please update iwlwifi and mac80211 in ubuntu-modules to latest stable version!

Hi Aldebx,

Care to try installing the linux-backports-modules package as I believe it has updated versions of the iwlwifi drivers. Please let us know your results. Thanks.

Bah, you may have to wait as it looks like the updates are still sitting in -proposed:

I have the same problem of connexion everytime (not after resume. everytime), but I think it is because of my router.

Does everyone know what "reason = 7" means ???

Note that a workaround for you can be to "modprobe -r iwl4965" and "modprobe iwl4965" just after

I have the same problem as Morgan (above). The wireless drops intermittently.
The workaround does not always work. This started to happen only a few days ago. Until now I never had any problems!

Now the wireless asks for password continuously.

the workaround I found works at my home : I tried another channels and I found that channels >10 works (i think they are the only authorized channels in france)

Have you got these problems with ALL channels ?

8.04 has reached end of life and this package removed. If you still have this issue on a currently supported release, please reopen it and reassign it to the linux package
