Bug Description

Create a handful of small objects. Use the bucket fill on the inside of the objects.

got

Glib-error **: gmem.c:170: failed to allocate 9263700 bytes aborting...

as an error and a crash to the desktop.

Could you please attach an example file so that we can try to reproduce the issue?

Some memory errors like yours have already been reported, but IIRC none related to the bucket tool.

I have attached a file that has caused the problem specifically.

in particular it crashed when attempting the bucket on the object at 10-11 o'clock on the face of the circle of objects

Confirmed on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.2 and 0.48.3.1.
Memory consumption rise very quickly each time you fill an objects, and after 5-6 objects (my virtual machine as only 512 Mio of RAM, it may take a bit longer on a real recent computer) inky crashes.

Not reproduced with trunk revision 11132 (new renderer).
