changable skins or themes feature (wishlist)

Hi Friends,
There has been a fair amount of discussion at InkscapeForum.com (too many topics to list) about dissatisfaction with the appearance of the Inkscape interface. There have even been a few who have posted potential new icons for the interface, although I don't know how many have made their way to developers. Some are very nice!

Recently someone suggested that many people could submit their icons, and then everyone could vote. But that would still leave us with one interface, which would only satisfy a small minority of users.

I would like to see multiple choices for themes/skins somewhere, whether in the interface or in Inks Prefs, or even scattered about the internet (in forums or on personal websites). This might simply be different icons, and/or it might include different color schemes. My wish is for a simple way to change the appearance, and multiple choices for doing so.

My suggestion would be to make it possible for anyone (in true open source tradition) to create their own theme or skin, which they might just use personally, or which they might make available for other Inkscape users to install to their version. I don't mean like an extension. Any intermediate or advanced Inkscape user already has the skills to create such a theme/skin. What is needed, in my opinion, is a simple way to change/install themes/skins, and multiple choices available.

I would offer the anti-malware program called Spybot Search & Destroy (Spybot S&D) as an example. Through their forum, one can find different skins that people have made, and it's a simple matter to install the one you like. Many have made their way into the program over the years, but one can still find others here and there around the internet (such as in forums or personal websites). Whether they come with the program, or whether you download it somewhere else, they're all easy to change or install.

I did find this existing wishlist item but it describes only part of what I'm proposing. https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/322806 I didn't know whether to add a comment there, or make a new one. But since they are not identical requests, I decided to make a new one.
