Bug Description
I'm cleaning up SVG imported from a PDF. A real pain in the butt.
AutoCAD has a feature called 'select similar' that is useful in doing just that.
Select similar works with the currently selected object(s) to add objects with similar features to the selection set.
The user would get a list of features to choose from, the algorithm would add matching objects to the selection set.
Match on object type, the style, components of the style, like 'fill:#fff' etc.
Considering some of the very advanced features in Inkscape, this shouldn't be too difficult.
If someone could point me at a plugin tutorial, I might take a run at it myself.

The next Inkscape major revision (0.49) will include a new Edit>Select same... menu that covers your need for style selection. Object selection (and a lot more !) can be done via the Edit>Find/Replace dialog.
