I propose we also rearrange the buttons for a better fit when docked.

Might be a good idea.
Though, is it a problem if the stop and qtart buttons are not equally spread over the width (as in the current UI)?

Most applications including Inkscape use a fixed size width for buttons.
I think the Find dialog is the only other dialog that doesn't use fixed size buttons (i am working on fixing this in bug #909328).
So i suggest we make the start/stop buttons consistent with most dialogs and have fixed size buttons.
Do you think there is a problem with this ?

Tested successfully on Ubuntu 11.04, Inkscape 11002.
Just a minor issue when used with a translated UI: the language selector is not correctly right-aligned (see attachment).
