Bug Description

OS: XP sp3, norwegian
Inkscape r10990

Inkscape downloaded from "https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=09706d11303fa52a&sc=documents&id=9706D11303FA52A!137"

The error message in norwegian:
---------------------------
inkscape.exe - Finner ikke komponent
---------------------------
Programmet kan ikke starte fordi libintl-8.dll ikke finnes. Det problemet kan la seg løse ved å installere programmet på nytt.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Translated into english (by me, so error message may not be exact the same as a real english error message would be like):
---------------------------
inkscape.exe - Cannot find component
---------------------------
Programmet cannot start because libintl-8.dll doesn't exist. Problem may be solved by reinstall the software.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Then I downloaded the dll file from this location: "http://www.dll-file-download.com/L/libintl-8.dll.html"
and extracted the dll in same folder as inkscape.exe stays.

No luck. A similar error message now ask for the file "libiconv-2.dll". Again I go and find the missing dll file at location: "http://www.down-dll.com/index.php?file-download=libiconv2.dll&dsc=LibIconv:-convert-between-character-encodings#"
I had to rename the file from "libiconv2.dll" into "libiconv-2.dll"

Now, Inkscape seems to run properly, but those two files should have being included in package.

AFAIK Inkscape itself should not use 'libiconv-2.dll' (it is only used in the build tools) [1], but maybe someone actually building Inkscape on Windows can comment (JazzyNico, Kris - any thoughts?)

Note: If certain DLLs are missing in an Inkscape development snapshot build for Windows, downloading them from the Inkscape devlibs branch (for testing, not as permanent solution) might be better than downloading them from some random site on the web:

<http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape-devlibs/trunk/files/head:/bin/>
(the download links are at the far right end of each line)

Does the issue still exist with the available latest build (AFAICS UweSch has uploaded r11009 on 2012-02-24)?

Hi.

Inkscape r11009 did not complain about any missing dll's. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback - closing as 'Fix Released' (no milestone - only affected trunk builds and not a released version)
