Bug Description

in Blender, when we use 3d text, we can use fonts that are not installed int the SO, linux, windows or macos, only choising it from our folders.

This will be a good function, because we avoid install the fonts in every SO, or in all the machines that we own, and easilly we can edit our designs in every pc with only put the font besides our inkscape file .

Forgive my english.

Regards. from México.

hmmm no, not put de font in the project or a especial directory, just, that we can select a new font without install it.

for example, if i got a "x.ttf" font, at properties of my text i can select "load font" and open the file broswer, select the font and inkscape show and use it, without installing.

so, if i got a project that use a special font, just put beside my svg file and loaded in inkscape manually.

Blender got a function name LOAD FONT example http://bit.ly/xnDUC7

IMHO this is just a variation of the same request: being able to use a font in Inkscape without the need to have it installed on your system (see comment #4 there).

that is about this "I just want that if I work on a network, or if I send my project to another one, he simply have to open it and that's it. Fonts are moved with the project"

I said, "for example, if i got a "x.ttf" font, at properties of my text i can select "load font" and open the file browser, select the font and inkscape show and use it, without installing"

it is no a variation.

Check and understand how work blender over text.

Blender doesnt put the font in the project, only seek for the font in the disk, if not found, it doesnt display, but the user easilly can replace the font or select the new place where the font is, without move the font to a special directory or install.

Let's agree to disagree. ;)

Inkscape can now load fonts that are not installed on the system. By default Inkscape will load additional fonts from Inkscape's share folder (/share/inkscape/fonts) and the user's configuration folder (~/.config/inkscape/fonts). Custom folders can be set in preferences (see Tools → Text → Font directories).

Inkscape does *not* load fonts from the folder of the current SVG file yet for the reasons described in the following mailing list thread on inkscape-devel:
https://sourceforge.net/p/inkscape/mailman/inkscape-devel/thread/3acd2560-8556-c333-b5a7-9271ab136abb%40gmx.de/

Also it seems people seem to prefer @font-face support for this over the possible approaches suggested.
