Bug Description
Tested with Inkscape r10710. I went to View>Color display mode>Grayscale and it has no visual effect on the display.

reproduced with r10330 and later revisions.
(tested on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (i386))
-> regression most likely introduced with the merge of the cairo-rendering branch in r10326.
