Bug Description

How to reproduce:
import a PDF file into inkscape
create a new layer
import a greyscale TIFF file with a white background
change the new layer blend mode to darken
 - the result looks perfect in inkscape with the white background of the TIFF not obscuring the background layer

However when printed, or saved as a PDF, the DARKEN mode has no effect and the tiff layer obscures the background layer.

Observed with inkscape 0.48 on Mac OS 10.6

Reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.2 and 0.48+devel r10630 (cairo 1.10.2) on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (i.386)

Reduced test case attached (error does not depend on importing PDF or embedding a special bitmap image (greyscale TIFF)).

Just wanted to add that it's not just the "darken" blend modes doesn't get exported to PDF. It at least also affects "screen" and if I had to wager, I'd say all blend modes except for "normal" are just stripped away in the export process.
