Saving as PDF with rasterised gradient causes missing text when printing with evince

Bug Description

When I save the attached file as a PDF and open it in Evince, the text "Division" is still visible. When printed, though, the text is not printed.

PDF export options:
  - PDF 1.4
  - Convert text to paths
  - Rasterize filter effects (300 dpi)
  - Export area is page

System: Debian Wheezy/Sid
Inkscape: 0.48.1-2.1+b1
Evince: 2.32.0-1
Printer: HP PSC 1402

This is a misconception: the created PDF file does not contain a rasterized gradient - all objects are still vector-based (PDF supports gradients as well as transparency natively [1]). The yellow rectangle is masked with a white-to-transparent gradient fill (also not a bitmap - the mask is a vector path as well).

Text is still present after PDF printing from Okular. Did not try with a physical printer. Can you repro with PDF printing from a viewer?
