> Saving as PDF with rasterised gradient
This is a misconception: the created PDF file does not contain a rasterized gradient - all objects are still vector-based (PDF supports gradients as well as transparency natively [1]). The yellow rectangle is masked with a white-to- transparent gradient fill (also not a bitmap - the mask is a vector path as well).
