Bug Description

I have installed .48 version of Inkscape on windows xp. The Program opens but all the tools in tool bar do not work. I can not draw or use the shape tools. I have used this program for 3 years and have done updates as they come along and this is the first time I have had this problem. I have removed all the previous versions of Inkscape and the files before I reinstalled the .48 version. Please send me some solutions. Thank you.

could you give more details. For example if you click on the rectangle tool, does the cursor change to a rectangle? If you click on the ellipse tool, does the cursor change to an ellipse? When you draw a shape do you get a dotted rectangle around it? After drawing a shape, could you go into the Fill and Stroke dialog and confirm that the stroke has been defined, and that the stroke width is not zero, and try creating a black fill?

Additionally (or alternatively) - do you use an extended input device (tablet, pen), and if so, did you check the configuration in 'File > Input Devices...'?

I found the Wacom tablet to be the culprit. What a relief to have the Inkscape back in order.

Beware of the Wacom tablet and Inkscape .48.1. Your tool bar will not work with some tablets.

Did you have both the normal (maybe wireless) mouse and the wacom moue connected (and on the tablet) when launching Inkscape?
Would you be willing to try once again using the tablet, but making sure to not leave the Wacom mouse on the Wacom tablet while using the wireless mouse? [1]

Any feedback would be appreciated.
