PDF export error (closing open paths)

This bug was discussed in November 2010 but I couldn't find any traces of it in the bug tracker. It still is present in the 0.48.2 release and in the development branch (as of r10503). Tested on Ubuntu 11.04 (cairo 1.10.2).

Even if the error is really caused by a bug in Cairo, would it be possible to come up with some workaround for it in Inkscape?

"Not sure how to describe this PDF export error, so I thought I'd check
the list first. When I make a simple four node path in the attached SVG,
the PDF export closes the path (test.pdf). Not sure if I'm doing
something wrong here, so any input would be helpful. I get identical
output whether I manually "Save As" PDF or convert it from the command
line. Thanks in advance.

I'm using a freshly installed copy of Ubuntu 10.10, with Inkscape 0.48.0
