Convert to Braille extension

I have been trying to apply the Convert to Braille extension, but it seems it does no work.
When I apply it to any text, it does not appear the corresponding Braille points, but it appears small white rectangles, one for each letter of the text.
I am using Inkscape 0.48 in Windows 7.
Is it really a bug? Any solution?

Use a font which includes the Braille glyphs (e.g. DejaVu Sans). The font backend used in Inkscape on Windows does not support glyph substitution.

Linking as duplicate to Bug #424223 “Extension braille is working with no effect”. Please add a comment here and revert the duplicate status if you don't agree and think these are different issues.

I have just used the DejaVu Sans font and the extension works perfectly.
