Bug Description

In a command line, if I type "Inkscape.exe --shell", nothing is prompt to me and the program seems to end (it should be displayed something like "Inkscape 0.48.1 interactive shell mode. Type 'quit' to quit").

This is my logs :

C:\Program Files\Inkscape>inkscape.exe --shell

C:\Program Files\Inkscape>

Same on two PC, both running Windows XP and Inkscape 0.48.1.

Does it work if you use 'inkscape --shell' instead of 'inkscape.exe --shell'?

Yes it works whithout extension and with inkscape.com.

It's tricky to know that some works with inkscape.exe, and some must be used with inkscape.com

But it would works right with EXE file too no? I was using inkscape.exe only because MAN pages are usually for Unix OS, where no extension is needed.

Confirmed on Windows XP, with all the command line options.
The first time I ran into that bug, I didn't even try to remove the extension (or use the .com), and thought it was completely broken...

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Confirmed

Closing "won't fix". The .com version is the official wrapper that should be used on Windows (see http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Release_notes/0.48#Command_line_interface).

Changed in inkscape:
status: Confirmed → Won't Fix
