Inscape so slow even in 1 layer

I have a group of 20 items group at 400x200 and it is so slow to scale up. I have to wait like 5-10 minutes. I dont understand why it could be this slow I have tried to simplify image as much as possible.
I have an i5 with window 7 64 bit and I am using v0.48.1
As soon as I have more than 5 objects of anyu size inkscape slows down completely. I really like this application and its work flow but this is crazy.

- Do you use a lot of SVG filter effects or blurs? Does performance improve when zooming in while using 'View > Display Mode > No Filters'?
- If no filter effects are in play - do you use path effects or have paths with a huge number of nodes in the drawing (as might be the result of 'Path > Trace Bitmap…')?

It would be helpful for bug triage if you could attach a sample SVG file and describe detailed 'steps to reproduce'.

Once I changed the viewed to outline mode it was much better but still a bit laggy. I suppose because the application has to move a bunch of objects at once. I used basic objects like squares and rectangles but when I shifted the selection, the application gave problems. In version 0.48 dev r10300 I tried a similar task and it worked amazingly. That version was a stand alone and not installed. I hope this helps.
