Bug Description

I'm using 48.1
Ai format is really important for us designers, especially who can't afford Adobe Illustrator price
So what I'm asking why cant we export in Ai, those who accept SVG are very few -__-
I'm really tired of not being to take the same chance of those who have Ai, and I'm sure that there are lots of linux designers that suffer like me ×_×

- does your software support the import of either Postscript (.ps, .eps) or PDF? This might be a possible workaround since Inkscape supports export of both of these formats.

- is your software compatible with the attached .ai file? This was originally an Inkscape .svg file, converted to .ai format (Postscript version) using Uniconvertor 1.1.4.

@Alvin - please note that the linked discussion was about exporting to an older, PostScript-based AI format (Adobe Illustator 8.0 and below), not about support for current AI versions (Adobe Illustrator 9.0 and above). The main reason Inkscape can't create native AI files is that the file format is proprietary and the specification is not available as open standard [1].

Did you ask Adobe to either fully support open standards or to make the AI format specification publicly available as open standard without any license restrictions? Adobe Illustrator should be able to handle any PDF file created in Inkscape, as well as to import SVG files.

Not to be rude or anything here but I believe it would be easier to use SVG inside Adobe Illustrator (or other Adobe products) rather than using AI inside Inkscape.
