prevent from changing preferences in multiuser environment

Hi, I teach inkscape as a computer class. When one student changes a star into looking like no star at all (rounded/randomized/50 sides) then student from the next group has a hard time while figuring out why his star tool makes such strange stars. Setting default style for tools doesn't affect geometry. I know I have a button "reset settings for the tool" but reseting all after restart of inkscape would be more useful.
