Recent file list only contains files opened manually

Using version 0.48.0 r9654

Steps to reproduce error:
1 - Open Inkscape without open any file.
2 - Draw something and save the file.
3 - Close Inkscape
4 - Reopen Inkscape.
5 - Check recent list.
File is not to be seen in recent list.

OS - Xp sp3

Not reproduced on Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.

@pRototype - Did you use special characters (accent, cedilla...) in your filename?

Hi. Still an issue.

Now I have a file wit path: "G:\myDocs\CompactCard128\isMeListed.svg".
There's no spechial characters as I can see.

When open that file in Inkscape just for viewing it, it doesn't show up in recent list next time I open Inkscape.

I have a related behavior readily occuring in my Inkscape 0.48.1 on Windows XP.

1 - Open Inkscape and put something on the canvas.

2 - Quit Inkscape. It will ask to save the document, say Yes and give it a simple filename (e.g: "test.svg")

3 - Reopen Inkscape; the saved document is nowhere to be found on the Recent Files list.

4 - However, when the file is opened then it gets added to the Recent Files list.

Manually saving the document before closing doesn't reproduce this behavior.

Issue confirmed with the following steps:
1 - Open Inkscape without open any file.
2 - Draw something
3 - Close Inkscape
4 - Save the file with the "Save changes to document before closing" dialog
5 - Reopen Inkscape.
6 - Check recent list.

But not if the document is saved before closing.

@pRototype, could you please confirm this is the same issue or not?

@JazzyNico - with these steps I can reproduce it with Inkscape 0.48.2 and 0.48+devel r10747 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (i396) too.

As far as I understand, this happens because the named file was never actually open in Inkscape (the current document window when closing inkscape is still 'New Document 1'). This seems to be the same as when saving a copy (instead of saving as): the copy is not added to the recently opened files because it was never actually opened in an Inkscape window.

I did a test at request. Those file names (says it all) is tested:

<mypath>\03_recentlist_saveBeforeClosing.svg
<mypath>\02_recentlist_Save.svg
<mypath>\01_recentlist_SaveAs.svg
In all three cases above, I opened Inkscape without any file.

When I check the recent file list the fourth time I open Inkscape, I see:
<mypath>\02_recentlist_Save.svg
<mypath>\01_recentlist_SaveAs.svg

I can't see <mypath>\01_recentlist_SaveAs.svg in the recent list.

So yes, Suv. It seems that the issue you mentioned in post #5 is the same.
