Bug Description

The 0.47 version of Inkscape came with OpenSuSE 11.3. When I open a SVG that I created with Inkscape 0.46 (OpenSuSE 11.2) I get the wrong image. This is reproducible. I created a logo and a page with lots of logos on it. The result is the same in both cases. The logo consists of 2 letters. The first of which is now rendered in a different font.

I updated to Inkscape 0.48 on OpenSuse 11.3 and I do see the same problem.

Most likely you already checked this, but can you verify that the font 'msbm10' is currently installed on your system?

Well, sort of. The font is part of the TeX system and is installed and available when using TeX without apparent changes. (Anyway, I wanted to change all the text into pathes which seems not to have happend.)

I now found the XML view, because with the Text-Settings Dialog, I didn't see a font assigned. Well, it turn out that the font might now be txbsyb or txsyb. Although, those fonts are not the same, as well, only close. Is there any way to get a warning about missing fonts when opening a SVG?

Well, many many thanks for your help and really sorry to bother you. Luckily, I do have a fallback version
of OpenSuSE 11.2 around and I will fix the font into a path there.

You can change the status to not a bug, by the way.

No need to resort to the XML Editor: the text tool does display the font name as well as a warning icon about the missing font.

The font name is also displayed in the status bar if selecting the text with the normal select tool.

Even if it's not exactly the same (but very strongly related), I'm going to mark this report as duplicate of Bug #168658 “font substitution is silent"
