Bug Description

I have problem with export in EPS Encapsulated Postscript (in Inkscape 0.48.0 r9654 Rus WindowsXP sp3 Rus).

After export in EPS file, some programs can not import this file (for example: EUROSYSTEMS CoCut that I use for cutting). It does not depend on export options.
Inkscape can not import this EPS file!!! But CorelDraw can import this EPS file.

SVG & EPS files in the attachment zip

Best regards.

Not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48 and 0.48+devel r9737 on OS X 10.5.8 - export and import of 11.svg works without apparent errors. The EPS file also opens in other applications/viewers without any issues.

Do you have have GhostScript installed? (Needed to import EPS/PS files in Inkscape):

But Corel DRAW licence is too expensive.
It is my first experience in Inkscape.

Thank you very much.

It is my first experience in Inkscape in MS Windows.

I install GhostScript. Whether I should adjust after that Inkscape?
Inkscape can not import this EPS file!!! But GIMP can import this EPS file
(using GhostScript).

Thank you very much.

1. - can you attach an example of an .eps file that EUROSYSTEMS CoCut would be able to use successfully?

2. - in order to import an .eps file into Inkscape, you will need to have the file ps2pdf in the path. For example on my Windows XP machine, if I go into DOS and type the command ps2pdf, I get the following response:

C:\Documents and Settings\Alvin Penner>ps2pdf
Usage: ps2pdf input.ps [output.pdf]
   or: ps2pdf [options...] input.[e]ps output.pdf

- this tells me that ps2pdf has been found and is working properly. What response do you get when you type this command?

Inkscape can not import this EPS file!!! But GIMP can import this EPS file

EUROSYSTEMS CoCut would be able to use successfully all .eps files that
exported from CorelDraw. See attachment Corel.eps. Inkscape can not import
this EPS file too (the window "PDF import parameters" appear but nothing
happend after OK ). But GIMP can import this EPS file.

In my WinXP the response on ps2pdf is the same.

The file "Corel.eps" opens without error in Inkscape 0.48 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (GhostScript 8.70).

just writing to confirm that the file Corel.eps imports normally into Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.

However, the image is very dim, hard to see. When I open the Fill and Stroke dialog and select the objects then I get the message "Paint is undefined" in the Stroke dialog and the linewidth is zero.

Could you try the menu item Edit->Select All to see if there are any objects in your imported image?
Or could you save it as .svg to see if it is really empty?

do you see a preview image in the PDF Import dialog?

After Edit->Select All I can see a clean sheet.

After import Corel.eps file in Inkskape, I save file in 111111.svg (in
attachment) 1,92 КB (1 975 byt)

thanks for the svg file. It looks very similar to the one I get, except of course that the two paths are missing.
could you confirm the version of Ghostscript you are using? In my case I have a directory called C:\Program Files\gs\gs8.64\bin which tells me the version number is 8.64.

P.S. sorry about the misleading comments about zero linewidth and no stroke. It was because I was selecting a group, not an object. The actual stroke width in my svg file was 2.16

related question, are you able to successfully view the Corel.eps file in GSView32, which is available from Ghostscript?

I install gs8.71.

How I can view .eps file in GSView32? I can not find GSView32 in
Ghostscript.

Into EUROSYSTEMS CoCut software happens nothing.
I not get an error message.
I can see a clean sheet.
CoCut is not user-friendly-interface programm.

May be problems in Russian locale of Inkscape and Windows XP.

Thank you very much.

GSView will not affect the decision of my problem.
