Bug Description

Used Inkscape on an extreme computer featuring something like 16core 64bit 2gh processor, 12gb ram
But it work really slow because Inkscape does not support multicore computing. It only used 2 cores.
This problem makes it almost impossible to create larger and detailed vector images, and forces me to consider using adobe illustrator on a windows machine. Sad, the functions in inkscape are quite impressive, (if it could handle scalable multicore processing)

David: Hopefully you should see some performance improvements in Inkscape 0.49. However, it will be a while before it is out.
