Bug Description

I created either a box or a line, I'm not sure which - it's probably a box - which has a line around it and a stripe fill. This creates a horizontal (right-to-left) white-black-white-black-white etc. box effect with lines surrounding the box. I copied this and moved the edges over one box creating the same thing but a black-white-black-white-black etc. box effect. I then copied these to and rotated them 90 degrees and got exactly what I wanted, the same this time vertical (top-to-bottom) black and white alternating effect. Putting these together forms a border. The corner is supposed to be a split triangle so they merge, e.g. the border alternates black and white but at the corner it's half a box of the color and changes at a 45 degree angle to the next color, then the color continues alternating white and black.

It continues this at the other two corners to where it meets the original point and thus forms an endless border. Or so I'm trying to do. Starting with upper left, upper right, lower right, lower left, but I don't get that far. Trying to make the lower right corners meet at a 45-degree angle is making Inkscape crash. Sometimes it happens on the upper right corner.

I just realized it is a box since the end has two points. I readjust one to make the end a diagonal instead of a straight line, and line the edges up to make the block effect seamless and doing this is causing the 'crash due to unknown error' error box.

The first time it happened it was nice enough to crashdump the svg and I recovered, this time saving it under a different name, but trying to edit this image keeps making Inkscape crash. The image in question is attached to this report.

Note: the error that caused Inkscape to crash when node-editing a pattern-filled path has been fixed for the next release (0.48). You can download the prerelease version (0.48pre1 from <http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/0.48pre1/>) or wait for the release of 0.48.
