Bug Description

When the dropper tool is selected with the keyboard shortcut (d), it will fail setting the color until the mouse pointer is moved.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create two objects with different (not black) fill colors.
2. Select object A with the mouse.
3. Place the mouse pointer over object B.
4. Hit the "d" key and click the left mouse button without moving the mouse at all.
5. Object A will not get the color of object B, but instead will be black with an alpha value dependent on the status of the "alpha assign" button.

There is another occurrence of this bug that happens when picking color from clipped and masked objects no matter how you select Dropper tool.

When trying to pick a color from a clipped object you have to move the mouse to register the correct color, when you stop moving it always shows #ffffff.

Masked objects are not registered even when moving the mouse, it always shows #ffffff.

Masks: not handled by the dropper tool in Inkscape 0.46, 0.47 and 0.48(+devel).

Clips: not handled by the dropper tool in Inkscape 0.46,
but works with 0.47, 0.48 and 0.48+devel r9823 (needs cursor movement as reported)

related: Bug #168696 “Color picked can't get color from clipped objects.”

@prkos - since bug #168696 was closed as 'works for me' a long time ago, could you report the failure with masks separately?

Oddly, with masks (and clips) the dropper tool picks the color if it is dragged:

«Left Mouse Drag: Pick average Fill color (color is averaged over circle created during drag).»

Closing as part of migration of bugs to GitLab.

Issue is currently being tracked in https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/1608

I was not able to replicate the issue with masks/clips in 1.0 or 0.92.0 release versions testing on Windows 10 (and 0.46 release did not register the correct value when dragged). Considering how old the issue was, and the fact that newer versions work as expected, I'm not migrating that issue.
