Synchronizing zoom in/out with main window

When making the zoom in/zoom out operation, the main window of the application, doesn't resize according with the new dimension.
Inkscape doesn't have a sub contextual meniu for the user to specify the exact value of the magnification.

At the right end of the status bar you can enter precise zoom values and the context menu of the entry field has a list of preset values.

If implemented, this would have to be optional (like in GIMP): when changing zoom levels often it would be rather distracting if the window resizes with every change of zoom level.

The reverse option 'Zoom when window is resized' does exist and can be set in 'Inkscape Preferences > Windows > Miscellanous'. The 'zoom' button in the upper right corner of the canvas toggles this behavior per document window.
