Bug Description

When browsing through the Inkscape preferences dialog, inconsistensies can be seen in the sections in the right panel (see the text in bold). Sometimes the headers end with a colon, sometimes not.
For example, see the preferences of the pencil tool:
   - you have "Create new objects with:" with a colon
   - you have "Sketch mode" without a colon

Similarly when comparing the preferences of different tools. The sections of the selector tool preferences end with a colon, those of the node tool do not have a colon.

Whatever the standard would be, usage of the colon should be generalised.

The gnome HIG (http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/) is not very clear about it, but I think that we should do the opposite and ban colons in group headers (Gimp and Scribus don't use colons).

There are other punctuation inconsistencies in Inkscape:
1. Period at the end of the tooltips (not sure what's right here).
2. Missing colon after labels.
3. Incorrect period at the end of labels (checkboxes or radio buttons).

And the preferences dialog is very clean compared to the extensions dialogs...

Not related anymore with the preferences, but also something that is not equal throughout the whole program are units in strings. Hence I thought to recycle this thread.
So what's up: there are some four ways units are shown in text messages, namely
- between round brackets: (px)
- between rectangular brackets [px]
- separated by a comma from the beginning of the string: , px
- separated by a slash from the beginning of the string: / px

It is not clear to me what the preferred option would be (is language dependent anyway), but it should be uniform for the generic interface.

Units have been checked, they were almost all corrected already.
What's the status of the other three issues (comment 1)?

This report can virtually be closed. AFAIK, the only two non compliant entries in the preferences window are the headers for the preferences of the selector tool and for the clones. All other issues mentioned above have been checked.
