Update window in Trace Bitmap window does not update right Ver 0.47

Version 0.47

I was going through the Help section for the Logo for the Northern Pacific Railroad (http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/ATracingExample.html ) and while going through the steps to get rid of the speckles the update window did not work although the finished product didn’t have the speckles as was suggested it wouldn’t.

Here are the minimum number of steps to get the possible bug.

I restarted the program from scratch.
Imported Railroad logo.

Opened Trace bitmap window

Here are the first set of settings

Tab>Mode

Checked - Select brightness cutoff Threshold 0.150
Unchecked – invert image
Scans 3
Unchecked – Smooth | Checked –Stack scans | Unchecked – Remove background

Tab >Options

Checked Suppress speckles Set to 5
Checked – Smooth corners Threshold 1
Checked Optimize path tolerance 0.2

Click Update and I get speckles in the update window (No white speckles, which I get later))

Change Suppress speckles to 50
Click Update and the update window does not change

Click OK
Black speckles in update window remain more or less unchanged but I get a bunch of White speckles.
Drag created image in document window off PNG to look at it and it is however is very good and has no speckles at all.

Some more steps…

Delete created results from document window
Reduce Suppress speckles to 5 again
Press update and update window changes to same as before, black speckles but no white speckles
Click OK, in update window get black and white speckles.
Image created in document window however looks like the initial update, it has black speckles but no white speckles.

Hi, in 1.0, the Trace Bitmap dialog has changed quite a bit. On clicking Update, "Brightness steps" is still computed as "Brightness cutoff". This is being tracked in https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/790.
