this goes in the wishlist.

Since there is technical drawing implementation in the roadmap, I think a useful feature that goes along with that is the possibility to assign to a layer some properties that are normally associated with objects, eg. colour, lineweight, linetype, filling etc. In that way every object that belongs to that layer automatically inherits all these layer-based properties.
Of course it should also be possible for single objects to override these properties, so that you don't need to add too many extra layers.
