Bug Description

Calligraphic tool does not changes pen width while using my Genius tablet.
I tried to set up my device, but File/Input devices tells me "No extended input devices".
My tablet is connected while starting Inkscape.
I got File/Inkscape Preferences/Mouse/Use pressure-sensitive tablet checked in.
I'm using Inkscape 0.47 r22583, built Nov 21 2009.

Can you check of a recent version of GIMP shows the same problem for you?

Actually I'm running out of disk space, so I don't plan to install GIMP. Sorry.
But as I read all over the forums, this problem happens with Wacom tablets as well, and not only on WIN environment, but on Linux too.

I just tried to use a UC-Logic tablet and inkscape recognized it properly. However before it registred any strokes I had to go to file/input preferences and select the tablet from the drop-down list even though it was already selected. After that pressure sensivity works as expected.
So maybe tablet driver reinstallation would help? If not, you could just grab a USB pendrive and put the portable version of gimp on it to make sure that it is a problem with inkscape:

Also note that the calligraphy tool has a pressure sensitivity toggle button (next to stroke width slider) that is separate of the preferences setting.

Tested on Inkscape 0.47 r22583

Feel free to reopen if the same issue persists with current Inkscape, and with settings changed as described in comment 5.
