Bug Description
Yes, I know there is a discussion on this issue. This discussion may be reasonable for other platforms where there are application which have this behaviour - I remember M$ products used to do that former times.
But a Mac application doesnt do that - never ever. No Maccie ever would accept an app which quits when the last open window is closed. I'm on board since the days of Mac OS 7 - and every serious app I remember keeps launched until it is quitted - or crashes.

Windows XP service pack 3, inkscape v. 0-47. The file option to 'close' should only close the document and not the application. If it is the only or last document then a new document should be opened automatically. MS Office 2007 functions this way except one 'quits' by clicking the 'x' in the upper right hand corner of the window rather than from the file command (with a reminder to save if you hadn't). This was confusing at first when I got booted out by selecting 'close'. I'd recommend eliminating one option or giving each one a distinct effect. Thanks. Lia
