What is in the file created by Inkscape: a copy of the bitmap file, a SVG file with a link to an external bitmap or a SVG file with an embedded bitmap - maybe you can attach the file?
> the file can be edited after a relaunch.
i.e. Inkscape 0.47 (quartz) can open and edit SVG files created with Inkscape 0.46 (x11) that contain links to bitmap images or embedded bitmaps without issues but crashes while closing the GtkFileChooser dialog when importing a new bitmap?
sidenote: can you try to add a simple yet detailed 'steps to reproduce' list when reporting bugs? Like
| 1) open new drawing
| 2) open menu 'File > Import' and enable Preview
| 3) select a JPEG bitmap file
| 4) click <OK> to import the image
|
| result: Inkscape crashes when closing the import dialog with the following
| console error message:
| …
and attach (not paste) the CrashReporter log file (imho preferable, at least as long as Launchpad does reformat all bug descriptions and comments and makes logfiles and code snippets almost unreadable due to using non-fixed fonts and rewrapping ;-).
