export to EMF or WMF omits images from graphic

Upon creating a new graphic in Inkscape, you may wish to include one or more images in PNG or other format.
Save/reload to SVG seems fine.
Save copy to EPS works, but makes huge file.
Export as PNG seems to work ok.

Save as /save copy as WMF or EMF omits the images.
Tested on XP Pro, and also on XP Home (different machines)

sample emf attached, created by 0.47pre3 on XP Pro (sp3, fully patched) from previous svg attachment.
(wmf failed with errors, as noted in other bug reports)

Confirmed on Ubuntu 9.10, Inkscape 0.47pre4.
Save as>WMF doesn't export images (embedded or not).
Not tested with Save as>EMF (not available on Linux versions).

This version of Inkscape (for Windows) uses Uniconvertor 1.1.5

I also confirm this bug during export from SVG to WMF or EMF .. I am using Inkscape ver0.48 and XP SP3.

The bug goes in the other direction too. Import of a wmf or emf leaves the images off. In the attached example,
  import -> all files, navigate to slide2.emf. The preview shows the text. However, when it opens in inkscape the image is gone.

This was tested on Windows XP SP3, inkscape 0.48

I forgot to mention, the emf was made by Powerpoint 2003.
