Connectors do not stop at the edge of clones

Bug Description

The Connector tool doesn't work right with objects that are clones. When drawn between the center handles, the connection line is center to center, not edge to edge.

I can reproduce this on Inkscape 0.48.0 r9654 (build backported to Ubuntu 10.04 via ~ricotz ppa).

I attach another demo file which accounts for tremby’s remark (applies to groups).

Same (unexpected) behavior with (linked or embedded) images (tested with Inkscape 0.48.1 and current trunk r10218).

I can't imagine this was a problem on previous releases... but I'm having a hard time finding previous releases with any kind of installation instructions that work. Can anyone help me getting 0.47 installed on Linux (Mint)???
