Bug Description

I tried to save my svg file as a pdf file.
I have the following serious bug.
(1) Resulting pdf file is very far from the original artwork. In particular, there seems to be a serious problem in object ordering.
Transparency is not correctly converted, either.
(2) Converting time was too long with text2path on, not like v4.6
(3) File size of resulting pdf file is also too large.

issue 2) and 3) are probably the same as bug #388257 “Inkscape 0.47Pre: PDF/PS Export 'Text to Paths' gives inconsistent results”:
<https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/388257>

Could you attach a same file (SVG + PDF) for issue 1) object ordering/transparency? And on which platform did you test which Inkscape 0.47pre version?

I send you an svg file and two converted pdf files, one with text2path
on and th other with text2path off.
Please keep in mind that I used special fonts.

The issue with using 'text to path' is known and a duplicate of bug #388257. You can try the workaround and use 'Path > Object to Path' for all texts before exporting to PDF, just don't save the SVG after the text is converted if you want to keep the text editable.

I can't reproduce the transparency of the light blue rectangle and the main 'Flowed text' objects I see in the PDF (using Apple's 'Preview' PDF viewer) with Inkscape 0.46+devel r22544 on OS X 10.5.8 using default PDF export settings. All text has the same color as in Inkscape (white, black) and the light blue background has no opacity in the new PDF.

I don't have your fonts installed though, but I have seen similar issues when text objects have been clipped (bug #446242 “Font rendering problem after converting fonts to paths at PDF export”: <https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/446242>) and your SVG file has many now unused clipping paths in the <defs> section - maybe these are related issues.

The SVG file was created with 0.46 - which version did you use to export the PDF (see menu 'Help > About Inkscape' for version info)?

Thank you for you explanation.

I created svg file with v0.46 and exported it to pdf file with v0.47pre4.
When export it to pdf file with v0.46, inkscape exports it almost
perfectly except blur (exporting ignores blur).
But v0.47pre3 and v0.47pre3 do not export correctly my file.
In my opinion, the way of pdf export used in v0.46 looks much better
than that of v0.47pre unless this pdf export bug is not fixed.

Thank you.

I think the bug is not only related to the text2path but also to the
transparency problem.
As you can see, in the pdf file converted with text2path off,
transparency wat correctly converted.
Most of front texts are parepared without any transparency, but after
conversion they have some transparency.

The transparency issue is mentioned in bug #388257 as well - (see the comments 7-14) and in bug #446242. I don't know if and how the two are connected, but as Launchpad only allows to link to one bug as 'duplicate of' I decided to link to bug #388257 because it needs to be fixed first IMHO. If you are interested in the transparency issue you could subscribe yourself to bug #446242 and add a comment there if you have any further insight into what triggers the bug.
