hyperpen 12000u not working

In version 0.46 my hyperpen works fine, in the prerelease version 0.47 it doesn't. The configuration menue shows a long string of strange symbols instead of the name. In the latest version of the Gimp my tablet also works fine. My system is Windows xp home.

Which pre-release of 0.47 did you try? Was it pre3 or before?

In pre4 version my hyperpen is working fine. The long weird string reported above is still shown in the configuration menue. Maybe a hint: In pre3 the tablet was put in "screen"-mode right from the beginning. In pre4 I had to switch it from "deactivated" to "screen" myself.

Bad news! On the second start I got this error message: "Die Vorgabendatei C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Büsching\Anwendungsdaten\inkscape\preferences.xml is kein gültiges XML-Dokument". And my hyperpen refused to work again. I uninstalled the pre4, deleted the files and reinstalled it. But it had no effect. Moreover I also get the error message when starting the stable 0.46 version. Do both versions use the same application data (Anwendungsdaten)?

I confirmed that both applications use the same preferences.xml document. When I changed the extention to ".bak" the error message did not pop up on start of each inkscape version. But still the input device cannot be activated or its mode changed in any version. And in pre4 the hyperpen still refuses to work.

In the final release of 0.47 the problem still exists.

Duplicate (or at least related) of Bug #334800 "Input device configuration not saved on Windows" (fixed in 0.48)?
Could you please confirm your tablet works with Inkscape 0.48.x?

Sorry, but in the meantime I have purchased a new computer and a new tablet. So I can't confirm this.
