Bug Description

Under Linux : Inkscape does not install an SVG icon to scalable/apps. Meaning that applications such as GNOME Do, which needs larger sizes than 48x48, will use a scaled up bitmap, not a pretty sight.

Tested on Ubuntu 9.04, Inkscape 0.46 in /usr and rev. 22218 in /usr/local.
There's nothing in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps, but inkscape.svg is installed in /usr/local/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/ (probably due to local build).
Does someone know if 0.47 "packaged version" installs the scalable icon in the right place?

AFAICT Inkscape does not follow any of the normal procedures for installing icons such as:
http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html#install_icons

Current SVN still seems to prefer to use pixmaps:

 appicondir = $(datadir)/pixmaps
 appicon_DATA = inkscape.png

Another downside of this is that the included app icon always has a precedence over a system icon theme. Inkscape really should install its app icons into the apps context of the hicolor theme.

And while fixing the way the icon is installed, please consider using an icon that is sharp, pixel precise in the smaller sizes. Attaching one.
