Bug Description

Inkscape was running find on my Mac and then I installed Snow Leopard. I can't cut, copy or paste. When something is saved and pulled back up into another program like "Sure Cuts A Lot" it is a mangled mess.

This seems like a duplicate of Bug #307005 in Inkscape: “copy command always does bitmap copy”

With certain X11 settings for the clipboard/pasteboard exchange between X11 applications and native OS X applications copy&paste within Inkscape always puts a bitmap copy into the clipboard instead of the selected vector objects. This could also happen when you paste Inkscape content into SCAL.

Please read ' Copying and pasting in Inkscape creates pixellated images instead of copying the vector objects ' from the FAQ <http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ#Copying_and_pasting_in_Inkscape_creates_pixellated_images_instead_of_copying_the_vector_objects> if following the instructions solves your copy&paste issue with Inkscape 0.47pre2 on Snow Leopard (which uses X11/XQuartz 2.3.4).

After the changes according to the FAQ - if you need to copy from Inkscape (X11) to OS X, you have to copy twice:
1) copy the objects in Inkscape using 'Ctrl+C'
2) then use the menu bar command 'Edit > Copy' to copy the contents of the X11 clipboard to the OS X Pasteboard
3) change to the OS X application where you want to paste the objects and use 'Cmd+V' to insert the pasteboard contents.

For me, Inkscape does not start at all on Snow Leopard.
I have the same error as an earlier reported bug:
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.1.dylib
  Referenced from: /Applications/Inkscape.app/Contents/Resources/bin/./inkscape-bin
  Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Please add a comment there if you have new information regarding that specific startup failure. Else - see bug #392693 “Conflict between bundled and system libxml dylib”.

If you tell us which version of Inkscape you tried? Inkscape 0.46 doesn't run on Snow Leopard, please wait for Inkscape 0.47 or try the latest 0.47pre2-2 Leopard+ prerelease build from <http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/0.47pre2/>.

@celyinsc - have you been able to solve the copy&paste error as described in the FAQ?

Yes, thanks for asking. I'm having a few problems with putting text around a circle, but other than that I'm happy again.

Glad the clipboard part worked out for you and thanks for reporting back. I will mark your report as duplicate of bug #307005 Bug #307005 in Inkscape: “[OS X] copy & paste inserts a bitmap copy instead of the vector object”. Please add a comment and revert the duplicate status if the issue returns and the clipboard failure can't be fixed by changing the X11 preferences.

For further questions and support I can recommend <http://www.inkscapeforum.com/> and <https://answers.launchpad.net/inkscape>
