Bug Description

Bending lines with the Pointer/Selection tool is a great functionality that Flash has that no other program has. It allows one to bend the entire line at once, rather than the nodes. Once bent, the line can easily be bent back (unlike the current bending tool in inkscape.)

Please, give us further details. Not everyone knows Flash, I don't know how it works. From your description it seems that such feature might be covered with the tweak tool and auto-smooth nodes.

Actually, to better illustrate, you should view this video, it is of course in inkscape, however, it's not exactly what Flash does.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0QrXhX9Hhc&fmt=22

However, the following "features" do not exist in flash where Inkscape has them:

-- Fill when editing nodes as shown in the video (This shouldn't even be possible as the fill area is not bounded)

-- Cannot fill "unbounded" area even though the area does look bounded.

Flash has these things where your "node editor" does not:

-- Quick access to bending lines using such a "Node editor" as shown in the video by holding LEFT CRTL while on the pencil tool / line tool.

-- Holding Shift when on the "node editor" turns the tool into the selection tool.

Where you have a node editor, Flash has a line bender. When the selection tool is active, you hover over a line, flash changes the selection tool to have a curve icon to the upper right of the mouse pointer. This curve icon lets you know that you can bend lines at will (like your edit paths by node.)

==================

Another feature I would like to soggest is actually being able to fill an area that you've made with "paths" or "lines" completely with the fill tool instead of making "no fill blotches" here and there where no fill exists near bends in the lines.

With regard to your last point, you can press Spacebar to temporarily switch to the selector tool from ANY tool and press Spacebar again to switch back to the previous tool. Much more useful imho.

Ah yes, sorry, (new account here), I would like to point out that I was trying to say...

"Allow Bending of Lines without Using Nodes"

Sorry for the mixup.
