What do you mean exactly? A way to set the thickness of the vertical and horizontal lines individually?

e.g.

i want to set fat grid lines horizontally every 4th line and vertically every 2 lines.

now its asking only: fat grid lines every XX lines for "all lines"?

in the document properties this could be implemented as two fields (see image)

well, your idea is good as well.
one could make a hierarchy of grid lines.
and set snapping distances and strength per grid hierarchy level.
but thats another feature request.
